Dear LUESD Families and Community,
At Lemoore Union Elementary School District, our top priority is fostering a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment for all students.
In alignment with California State Legislation (AB 3216 / Phone-Free Schools Act) and under the direction of our Board of Education, LUESD officially adopted an updated Mobile Communication Devices Policy on June 9, 2026. This policy is designed to minimize classroom distractions, boost academic focus, and support overall student mental health and well-being.
Full implementation will begin on the first day of the 2026–2027 school year.
Key Highlights by Grade Level
Elementary School: Cell phones must be turned off or silenced and placed away for the entire school day in designated classroom storage (e.g., pocket charts).
Middle School: Cell phones must be turned off or silenced and stored away for the entire day—including instructional time, passing periods, nutrition breaks, and lunch.
Other Personal Electronics: Smartwatches, AirPods/earbuds, smart glasses, and other cell-connected devices are not permitted.
Exceptions & Health Accommodations
Per California Education Code, students will not be prohibited from using a device:
In the event of an emergency or in response to a perceived threat of danger.
When documented and required by an Individualized Education Program (IEP) or 504 Plan.
When deemed necessary for health and well-being by a licensed physician or surgeon.
When specific, limited permission is granted by a teacher or administrator for an educational activity.
We appreciate the partnership of our parents, guardians, and staff in making this transition smooth and successful for our students.
